Travel itinerary

  • Upon arrival, you will be personally welcomed and taken to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will immediately start with a guided hike to the top of Table Mountain via the India Window Trail, an intense but exceptionally beautiful mountain trail. At the top, an open plateau awaits you with views of the city, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Twelve Apostles; the descent is by cable car (weather permitting). You will end the day with a guided walk through the historic center, where colonial buildings and contemporary city life alternate.

  • Today you will discover the entire Cape Peninsula. You will stop in Muizenberg in Kalk Bay, where surfers, fishing boats, and market stalls set the pace. In Simon's Town, you will walk among the penguins and have time for a casual picnic by the sea. In the afternoon, you will visit Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, with rugged cliffs, hiking trails, and open views. A sunset provides a golden finale.

  • After a short drive, you will reach Franschhoek, surrounded by vineyards and mountains. You will stroll through the village past art galleries and local design shops and visit the Terbodore Coffee Roastery for a tasting. After that, you can set your own pace: wine lovers can visit three carefully selected estates, while beer lovers can discover craft breweries. If you wish, you can take a ride on the Wine Tram or go for a walk in Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve.

  • The day starts at the District Six Museum, where you will gain insight into the impact of apartheid on the city and its residents. Afterwards, you will walk through Bo-Kaap, recognizable for its colorful houses and Cape Malay culture. The highlight of the day is a cooking workshop with a local family: shopping for ingredients together, cooking, and sharing a meal. A concrete way to experience Cape Town from the inside out.

  • You will drive along the coast of False Bay towards Hermanus, where you can often see whales from the cliffs between July and November. Then you will continue to the Heaven and Earth Valley and the Elgin region, known for its cool climate wines and fruit growing. Lunch is available at the Elgin Railway Market (not included). The day ends with a visit to the Old Mill Distillery and a panoramic drive over the Franschhoek Pass.

  • To put it in South African terms, "Die einde van 'n baie mooi program" (The end of a very beautiful program). You return home or extend your trip, for example with extra nights in the wine country or a safari.

Our highlight of the trip

“Few places in the world let you get as close to wild animals as Boulders Beach, where you literally stand among the penguins. You move between rocks and sand, at eye level with a colony that lives here freely. Combined with the drive along Chapman's Peak Drive, where the road clings to the cliffs above the ocean, you can experience in a single day how exceptionally accessible and unspoiled this region is."

Experiences in the spotlight

View from Table Mountain

As you climb the mountain path, Cape Town reveals itself more and more: City Bowl, Atlantic coast, and Lion's Head in a single glance. Between rocks and fynbos, you see the city below you getting smaller, until only lines and light remain. At the top, you stand on a flat plateau with a 360° view of the ocean, mountains, and horizon.

Cape Peninsula discovery

Along the Cape Peninsula, the scenery changes rapidly: beach villages, deserted bays, and roads winding along rugged cliffs. In a single drive, you can see how mountains plunge into the sea and fynbos colors the slopes. Along the way, penguin colonies appear, and sometimes baboons, surprisingly close to the city.

Wine & Gastronomy in Franschhoek

In Franschhoek, you can visit three exclusive wine estates and the Terbodore Coffee Roastery, where the beans are still roasted by hand. The famous Wine Tram is also a wonderful way to explore Franschhoek further. You can hop on and off at various wineries and enjoy delicious tastings in beautiful surroundings along the way.
