Namibia itinerary
-
After arriving in Windhoek, pick up your rental car and drive to The Olive Exclusive, a stylish boutique hotel just outside the city center. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore the city. Windhoek surprises with its mix of African dynamism and German colonial influences. A peaceful and comfortable start to the trip.
-
You drive north to Okonjima Nature Reserve, located in the Waterberg region and surrounded by the Omboroko Mountains. The reserve is known for its commitment to protecting felines through the Africat Foundation. You combine self-drive explorations with guided safaris. The savannah, silence, and proximity to wildlife make for intense first safari moments.
-
Today you will reach Etosha National Park, one of the most impressive wildlife parks in southern Africa. You will stay at Onguma The Fort, spectacularly located with views over the Etosha plain and an active waterhole. From the terrace and during self-drives, you can observe giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and predators. Safari and comfort come together perfectly here.
-
You drive straight through Etosha towards the south, with the route itself becoming a safari. Watering holes and viewpoints offer plenty of opportunities for observation. Just outside the park, you will stay at Etosha Oberland Lodge, located in a private reserve. The lodge overlooks busy watering holes and serves delicious meals.
-
The journey takes you to the rugged heart of Damaraland, a region of granite rocks, open valleys, and prehistoric traces. You will visit Twyfelfontein with its San rock paintings, Burnt Mountain, and Organ Pipes, among other places. With a little luck, you will spot desert elephants that have adapted to this harsh landscape. You will stay at Onduli Ridge, an architectural gem integrated into the rocks.
-
After days spent in nature, you will reach the Atlantic coast and the charming town of Swakopmund. The town exudes a German colonial past and offers a pleasant change of scenery. From Walvis Bay, you can take a boat trip to see seals, dolphins, and pelicans, with flamingos in the lagoon. If you wish, you can also climb Dune 7 for views and adventure.
-
You drive through desolate landscapes and the Kuiseb Canyon towards the iconic dunes of Sossusvlei. Little Kulala Lodge is located in a private concession and offers early access to the dunes. At sunrise, you visit Dead Vlei, Big Daddy, and Dune 45, when light and shadow transform the landscape. The Sesriem Canyon is also nearby.
-
The journey ends in NamibRand Nature Reserve, a vast private area with dunes, mountains, and gravel plains. You will stay at Wolwedans Dune Camp, located on the edge of a high dune with panoramic views. During the day, you will explore the reserve, and in the evening, you will enjoy sunsets and a starry sky without light pollution. A serene and impressive conclusion.
