Itinerary

  • Upon arrival, you will be personally greeted and taken to your hotel. In the afternoon, you’ll immediately set out on a guided hike to the summit of Table Mountain via the India Window Trail, a challenging yet exceptionally beautiful mountain path. At the top, an open plateau awaits with views of the city, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Twelve Apostles; the descent is by cable car (weather permitting). You’ll end the day with a guided walk through the historic center, where colonial buildings and modern city life blend seamlessly.

  • Today you’ll explore the entire Cape Peninsula. You’ll stop in Muizenberg and Kalk Bay, where surfers, fishing boats, and market stalls set the pace. In Simon’s Town, you’ll stroll among the penguins and have time for a casual picnic by the sea. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, with rugged cliffs, hiking trails, and sweeping views. A sunset provides a golden finale.

  • After a short drive, you’ll arrive in Franschhoek, surrounded by vineyards and mountains. You’ll stroll through the village past art galleries and local design shops and visit the Terbodore Coffee Roastery for a tasting. After that, you set the pace: wine lovers visit three carefully selected estates, while beer enthusiasts discover craft breweries. If you’d like, you can take a ride on the Wine Tram or go for a walk in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve.

  • The day begins at the District Six Museum, where you’ll gain insight into the impact of apartheid on the city and its residents. Afterward, you’ll stroll through Bo-Kaap, known for its colorful houses and Cape Malay culture. The highlight of the day is a cooking workshop with a local family: shopping for ingredients together, cooking, and sharing the meal. A tangible way to experience Cape Town from the inside out.

  • You’ll drive along the coast of False Bay toward Hermanus, where you can often spot whales from the cliffs between July and November. From there, you’ll continue on to the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and the Elgin region, known for its cool-climate wines and fruit farming. Lunch is available at the Elgin Railway Market (not included). The day ends with a visit to the Oude Molen distillery and a scenic drive over the Franschhoek Pass.

  • To put it in South African terms, “The end of a wonderful trip.” You can either head home or extend your trip—perhaps with a few extra nights in the wine region or a safari.

The highlight of our trip

“Few places in the world let you get as close to wildlife as Boulders Beach, where you literally stand among the penguins. You move among the rocks and sand, at eye level with a colony that lives freely here. Combined with the drive along Chapman’s Peak Drive, where the road clings to the cliffs above the ocean, you’ll experience in a single day just how exceptionally accessible and unspoiled this region is.”

Featured experiences

View from Table Mountain

As you climb the winding mountain trail, Cape Town gradually comes into view: the City Bowl, the Atlantic coast, and Lion’s Head all in a single glance. Amid the rocks and fynbos, you watch the city shrink below you until only lines and light remain. At the top, you stand on a flat plateau with a 360° view of the ocean, the mountains, and the horizon.

Exploring the Cape Peninsula

Along the Cape Peninsula, the scenery changes rapidly: beach villages, deserted coves, and roads winding past rugged cliffs. In a single drive, you can see how the mountains seem to plunge into the sea and how fynbos colors the slopes. Along the way, you’ll come across penguin colonies and, occasionally, baboons—surprisingly close to the city.

Wine & Gastronomy in Franschhoek

In Franschhoek, you’ll visit three exclusive wineries and the Terbodore Coffee Roastery, where the beans are still roasted by hand. The famous Wine Tram is also a wonderful way to explore Franschhoek further. You can hop on and off at various wineries and enjoy delightful tastings along the way in a beautiful setting.
