Luxury Tour of the Western United States: A Family Trip Full of Adventure
Red canyons, endless highways, and mountain peaks stretching to the horizon. Welcome to the American West, where Utah and Wyoming together provide the backdrop for a family trip full of adventure.
You’ll begin your journey amid the spectacular rock formations of Utah. In Zion, you’ll explore the towering sandstone walls with a private naturalist, while Moab invites you to get your hands dirty. Climbing, scrambling, descending into a canyon, and photographing the Milky Way at night: this is the kind of trip where even teenagers are happy to put their phones away for a while.
Then the scenery changes. The red desert gives way to the mountains and open plains of Wyoming. Jackson Hole still has that classic frontier atmosphere, with wooden facades, cowboy tales, and the Teton Range in the background. You’ll go rafting on the Snake River and set out at first light in search of bison and elk.
Yellowstone provides the grand finale. Geysers shoot into the sky, bison roam through vast valleys, and a new view awaits around every bend.
A road trip, an adventure, and a healthy dose of the Wild West. A trip your family will talk about for a long time to come.
Itinerary
-
You'll land in Las Vegas and pick up your rental car. The city is really just the starting point of your adventure, with time for a nice dinner and your first night under the neon lights of The Strip.
The next morning, you'll leave the city behind. From now on, all your attention will be focused on the impressive landscapes of the American West.
-
The highway winds through the desert toward Zion National Park, where towering sandstone cliffs close in around you. Accompanied by a private naturalist, you’ll explore the park on foot and discover the most beautiful spots based on your skill level and interests.
The next day will be even more adventurous. During a guided canyoneering tour, you’ll make your way through narrow rock passages and eroded canyons. It’s an active experience that instantly adds that extra bit of excitement to this family tour.
One more surprise awaits you in the evening. Accompanied by a professional photographer, you’ll head back into Zion to capture the Milky Way against the dark rock walls.
-
The drive to Moab feels like driving through a Western movie. Reddish-brown rocks, vast plains, and endless roads lead you to one of Utah’s most spectacular regions.
With a private guide, you’ll venture into unspoiled nature for a true canyoning adventure. You’ll wade through the water, navigate between rock walls, and finish with a spectacular descent: you’ll rappel more than thirty meters down a steep cliff using a rope. A professional guide will manage the ropes and guide you, ensuring your descent is 100 percent safe.
You'll also explore Arches National Park with a naturalist. Tower Arch, the Marching Men, and hidden rock formations reveal a completely different side of Utah, far beyond the most famous viewpoints.
-
Today, you'll leave the red rocks behind. Along the way, the landscape changes from arid plateaus to green mountainsides and the Wasatch Mountains.
Park City is a pleasant stopover on the way to Wyoming. The mountain atmosphere immediately sets the tone for the next chapter of the trip.
-
Welcome to Wyoming. Vast valleys, log cabins, and the jagged peaks of the Tetons: this is where the trip really takes on its true Wild West character.
On the Snake River, you’ll all climb into a private raft together. Calm stretches of water alternate with gentle, thrilling rapids as you float between towering rock walls. It’s just the right amount of adventure for a family day out that you’ll be talking about for a long time to come.
The next morning, the alarm goes off early. Accompanied by a private guide who knows everything about nature, you’ll head into Grand Teton National Park. As the first rays of sunlight touch the mountain peaks, you’ll set out in search of bison, elk, pronghorn, and moose.
After that, you decide what to do. Take the cable car up the mountain, head into the mountains, or explore the charming mountain villages of Teton Village and Jackson Hole.
-
Yellowstone sometimes feels like you're driving right into a nature documentary. Steam rises from the ground, Old Faithful shoots meters high into the air, and brightly colored hot springs are scattered among forests and open plains.
The next day, you'll head to Lamar Valley. This is one of the best places in North America to see wildlife. Herds of bison are permanent residents here, while, with a little luck, you might spot wolves and bears in the distance.
You'll spend your last full day in Paradise Valley. Together, choose between fly fishing, a guided hike, or an e-bike ride through the mountains and along the Yellowstone River.
-
After breakfast, the drive to the airport begins. One last chance to enjoy those wide roads, mountain peaks, and open landscapes before you return your rental car.
The Wild West is now firmly established in my camera roll.

Our highlight from the trip
“This is truly a fantastic itinerary for kids. Every day is different: the red rocks of Utah, the mountains of Grand Teton, bison in Yellowstone… There’s always something happening. And that cowboy vibe makes it even more fun. By the end of the trip, they feel like little cowboys themselves.”
