Luxury Tour of Tanzania
Tanzania without the usual safari crowds? Yes, please. This trip takes you to Nyerere and Ruaha, two vast nature reserves in the remote south of the country. Fewer jeeps. More bush. And best of all: safaris where you might not see another vehicle for minutes on end.
In Nyerere, the adventure begins right away. You’ll head out into the savanna in a 4x4, board a boat for a safari among hippos and crocodiles, and leave the jeep behind for a walk with a ranger. Three completely different ways to experience the same wilderness. And believe us: from the water, Africa suddenly looks very different.
From there, you’ll fly on to Ruaha. The landscape becomes drier, wilder, and more impressive. Monumental baobabs line dusty trails, enormous herds of elephants roam the plains, and there’s a thriving population of predators. This is a no-frills safari.
In Zanzibar, you’ll find The Palms, an intimate hideaway with just seven villas. Dark wood, Swahili touches, a private plunge pool, and the ocean within walking distance. Honeymoon material? Absolutely.
Itinerary
-
Your trip begins in Dar es Salaam, where you’ll be welcomed upon arrival and taken to the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel for your first night’s stay. The next morning, you’ll have your first real encounter with Tanzania’s wilderness. After the transfer to the airport, you’ll take a short domestic flight to Selous, the gateway to the impressive Nyerere National Park.
-
Welcome to Nyerere National Park. Vast, wild, and wonderfully remote. For the next three nights, it’s all about wildlife.
In a 4x4, you’ll drive along unpaved trails in search of elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and predators. A short while later, the same bush looks completely different from the water. During a boat safari, you’ll cruise past hippos, crocodiles, and animals that come to the banks to drink.
And then you just leave the jeep behind. On a walking safari, you head into the bush on foot with a ranger. Tracks in the sand, sounds coming from the bushes, a branch that suddenly moves… You automatically start looking at things differently.
On day five, the next adventure awaits: a bush flight to Ruaha.
-
From the air, you can see the landscape changing. Less water, more rocks, wide, dry riverbeds, and those distinctive baobabs everywhere.
Ruaha National Park is wilder than Nyerere. It also feels more expansive. During your 4x4 safaris, you’ll drive for kilometers through the park without constantly encountering other vehicles. A lion by the trail? Chances are you won’t have to share the view with twenty other jeeps.
Elephants and buffalo are well represented here, but Ruaha is especially exciting for those who love predators. Lions, leopards, and—with a little luck—African wild dogs. Get your camera ready.
After two nights in the middle of the bush, you'll fly on. Destination: Zanzibar.
-
From rugged savanna to tropical coast in a single flight. In Zanzibar, Tanzania suddenly looks completely different.
You'll stay for five nights at The Palms Zanzibar, a small-scale hideaway on the southeast coast. There are only seven villas. It doesn't feel like a big resort—it offers plenty of privacy.
The atmosphere? An elegant blend of Swahili charm and classic East African style. Dark wood, hand-carved details, warm fabrics, and tropical gardens. Each villa also has its own plunge pool.
Perfect for a honeymoon. Or simply for anyone who, after five days on safari, feels they’ve more than earned a cocktail with a view of the Indian Ocean.

Our highlight from the trip
“For me, Nyerere has that little something extra. Heading into the bush by 4x4 in the morning and later cruising among the hippos… two completely different safaris in a single day. And hardly any other jeeps in sight. Wonderful.”
