Itinerary

  • Your Sicilian adventure begins the moment you land in Catania. With your rental car and a handy information packet in hand, you’ll drive toward Syracuse, where your first impressions of the island will come to life.

  • Today, let yourself be enchanted by Syracuse: gleaming white limestone, a cathedral built atop a Greek temple, and narrow alleys brimming with Mediterranean charm. Next, Modica will captivate you with its Baroque beauty and irresistible chocolate—a visit to Dolceria Bonajuto is a sweet must before you continue on to Agrigento.

  • You’ll stroll through the legendary Valley of the Temples, where the majestic Temple of Concordia still stands impressively. Later, in Piazza Armerina, you’ll admire the stunning Roman mosaics of the Villa Romana del Casale before returning to Agrigento, where the temples are magically illuminated at night.

  • In medieval Alia, you’ll take an authentic cooking class at Agriturismo Lago Verde, where you’ll learn the secrets of Sicilian recipes. After lunch featuring your own creations and a glass of fine wine, you’ll continue on to the Palermo area, your base for the next two nights.

  • You’ll discover Palermo, a city where cultures have intertwined for centuries: Norman cathedrals, golden mosaics, and the impressive Norman Palace with its Palatine Chapel. In Monreale, one of the island’s most beautiful churches awaits you, and in the street markets, you’ll feel the city’s vibrant energy.

  • You’ll start your day in Cefalù, a coastal town with a charming old harbor and an imposing Norman cathedral. Passing through the pottery town of Santo Stefano di Camastra, you’ll continue on to Messina, the historic gateway to Sicily, and then on to the Taormina region to spend two nights enjoying spectacular views.

  • Today you’ll tackle Mount Etna, where the landscape shifts from vineyards and citrus groves to lava fields and craters. At 1,900 meters, you’ll reach Rifugio Sapienza, where you can take the cable car to get almost to the summit. On the way back, we definitely recommend stopping in charming Zafferana Etnea. Here you can sample top-quality local products such as chestnut honey with pecorino or the famous eucalyptus honey—a small, authentic culinary stop that makes your Etna day just that little bit more special. End the day with a wine tasting at Cantine Scilio: four distinctive wines, local and pure.

  • After one last peaceful morning, you bid farewell to Sicily with your head full of memories. You return your car at Catania Airport and head home with fond memories.
