Itinerary
-
Your tour begins in Muscat, where you’ll be met upon arrival and taken to the luxurious Al Bustan Palace Hotel. The next morning, explore the city at your own pace: stroll along the Muttrah Corniche, visit Al Mirani Fort, and end the day with a relaxing massage and a sunset dhow cruise.
The next day, you’ll explore Muscat with a private guide. You’ll visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, drive past the Royal Opera House, and wander through Old Muscat and the lively Muttrah Souk. You’ll have lunch at a traditional Ottoman restaurant and stop for photos at Al Alam Palace.
-
Today you’ll drive along the coastal road toward the desert, enjoying spectacular views along the way. Your first stop is Wadi Shab, where you’ll hike through a narrow gorge lined with date plantations, passing crystal-clear pools—with time for a refreshing dip. Later, you’ll visit the Dhow Museum in the fishing village of Sur and continue on to the impressive Sharqiya Desert. There, you’ll spend the night in an authentic desert camp under a sparkling starry sky
-
After waking up, you’ll take a day trip to a lush oasis. Experience the silence of the desert and let your heart be warmed by the hospitality of the Bedouin family, where you’ll have lunch. In the afternoon, take a drive to the famous Wadi Bani Khalid for a refreshing dip in the turquoise water. Then head back to the magical desert camp to watch a beautiful sunset over the golden sand dunes.
-
Today you’ll visit the village of Mudayrib, with its ancient fortress, ornate city gate, market, and traditional merchant houses. Afterward, you’ll drive to the deserted Birkat Al Mauz, where you’ll enjoy a picnic among the date plantations and the ancient aflaj irrigation system, recognized by UNESCO. Your day ends in Jabal Akhdar: from the Saiq Plateau, you’ll enjoy a stunning view of the valley and a private dinner under the stars. Your exceptional accommodation, Alila Jabal Akhdar, treats you to breathtaking views of the Hadjar Mountains.
-
Today, an exciting exploration of Nizwa, Oman’s cultural capital, awaits you. You’ll stroll through the traditional souk, known for its silverware and Bahla pottery, and visit the impressive Nizwa Fort, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bahla Fort, and the elegant Jabreen Fort. In the restored village of Al Hambra, you’ll get a glimpse into Omani life of the past, after which you’ll experience the daily life of a local family at Bait Al Safah. You’ll end the day with a lovely walk through the mountain village of Misfat Al Abiryeen and return to Alila Jabal Akhdar.
-
It’s the last day of your luxury tour of Oman, but there are still a few special stops on the itinerary. You’ll start in the ancient village of Tanuf, which was destroyed during the civil war (1957–1959). Walk past the ruins and the nearby oasis for a unique glimpse of a village that was never rebuilt. Then visit charming Bilad Sayt and take an adventurous off-road drive through Wadi Bani Awf. After a picnic lunch, drive back to Muscat for your return flight.
Tip: If you have some time to spare, be sure to visit the 350-year-old Nakhl Fort and the hot springs at Ain Al Thawarah.
