Luxury Tour of Malaysia
Sudah makan? Have you eaten yet? In Malaysia, that question is almost as common as saying “hello.” It immediately reveals a lot about the country: hospitality is served at the table, and every culture adds its own flavors, aromas, and rituals.
On this journey, your curiosity is your guide and your appetite is an excellent travel companion. You’ll wander through colonial Malacca, cycle against the glittering skyline of Kuala Lumpur, and slow your pace among the limestone hills of Ipoh. In Penang, you’ll taste your way through steaming food stalls, traditional teahouses, and colorful markets before diving into the kitchen yourself, surrounded by lemongrass, chili, and turmeric.
Then the pace changes. On Langkawi, temples and cities give way to ancient rainforest, tranquil coves, and the Andaman Sea. You take off your shoes, put away your schedule, and The Datai takes care of the rest.
Fourteen days, five very different stops, and probably more dishes than you can count. One piece of advice: come with an open mind—and an empty stomach.
Itinerary
-
Welcome to Malaysia! Your journey begins in Malacca, a historic trading city that for centuries attracted merchants from Europe, China, India, and the Arab world. You’ll find traces of their influence in the colorful facades, colonial squares, temples, churches, and a cuisine with influences from all over the world.
Wander through narrow streets lined with antique shops, local studios, and charming cafés. Be sure to look up every now and then: the most beautiful stories are often hidden behind weathered shutters and ornately decorated facades. Before you know it, a few hours will have flown by. Forgot the time? That’s a good sign here.
-
Kuala Lumpur surprises with its contrasts. Local markets, colorful neighborhoods, and historic mosques are within walking distance of luxury boutiques and impressive skyscrapers. You’ll explore the city with a guide and on a unique bike tour, allowing you to experience both the iconic highlights and everyday city life.
-
After the energy of Kuala Lumpur, the tranquility of Ipoh awaits. Limestone cliffs rise from the green landscape, and natural hot springs invite you to completely let go and slow down.
You’ll stay in an exclusive wellness setting, surrounded by tropical nature and impressive rock formations. Take an invigorating bath in the mineral-rich water, enjoy a treatment, or simply do nothing at all. That, too, is a form of travel. And sometimes, it’s exactly what you need.
-
George Town stimulates all your senses. Street art adorns historic facades, religions coexist harmoniously, and a new dish beckons around every corner. During a culinary walking tour, you’ll sample Penang’s most famous specialties. A hands-on cooking workshop at the Tropical Spice Garden will then introduce you to the flavors that make Malaysia so beloved around the world. Jom makan: time to eat!
-
During your last few days, you don’t have to do a thing. Although, of course, anything goes. On Langkawi, ancient rainforests give way to tranquil coves and snow-white beaches. The clear blue waters of the Andaman Sea provide the perfect backdrop for the finale of your trip.
Head out into nature, take your time enjoying an afternoon by the sea, or treat yourself to a gourmet dinner. As the sun slowly disappears behind the horizon, all you have to do is raise your glass. Here’s to Malaysia, to adventure, and to one last tropical evening.

Our highlight from the trip
“My favorite moment? The morning walk through George Town. The smell of freshly baked roti, colorful street art, historic facades, and small temples all come one after another in rapid succession. Penang lets you experience Malaysia with all your senses.”
