On this tour, you’ll travel through five Bhutanese valleys, each with its own atmosphere, colors, and rituals. You’ll travel from Thimphu to Punakha, Gangtey, Bumthang, and Paro. Along the way, massive dzongs, hidden monasteries, winding roads, and pine forests alternate, as if you were constantly changing scenery.
You’ll stay at all five Six Senses lodges in Bhutan. And trust us: these aren’t just any hotels. Imagine infinity pools overlooking rice paddies, dinners under the stars, lodge terraces with views of the Himalayas, and suites where open fires, mountain air, and design come together perfectly.
But it’s the moments in between that really stick with you. You travel with a private guide who opens doors to places and experiences you would otherwise miss. Breakfast with young monks. Welcome to Bhutan. The adventure begins the moment you land in Paro, with winding roads leading to Thimphu and views that immediately take your breath away. Your first few days will be filled with temples, colorful markets, and impressive sites such as Buddha Dordenma and the Memorial Chorten. In between, you’ll soak up the atmosphere of the capital: lively, quirky, and surprisingly creative. Think textile workshops, paper makers, and small cafés.
In the evening? Maybe a hot stone bath. Maybe cocktails with a view of the valley. Maybe just enjoying the silence. -
On the way to Punakha, you’ll drive over the iconic Dochula Pass, where 108 white stupas overlook the Himalayas. So keep your camera handy. The landscape slowly changes. The air becomes milder, the valleys greener, and rice fields appear everywhere along the road. You’ll have breakfast with monks in a centuries-old monastery, go rafting on the Mo Chhu River, and explore Punakha Dzong, perhaps the most beautiful fortress in Bhutan. At sunset, a pomegranate martini awaits you by the river.

Today you’ll travel to Phobjikha, a high-altitude glacial valley where yaks, farms, and prayer flags dot the landscape. You’ll hike and bike past small villages, temples, and wetlands where black-necked cranes settle in the winter. On day six, the Loma Longtey Trail awaits, a mountain hike through yak herding villages and passes with views over the valley. Afterward, you’ll explore Gangtey Village, the 16th-century Gangtey Goemba, and perhaps a small temple ritual at sunset.

Bumthang feels different. More subdued, and more spiritual as well. Along the way, you’ll stop at impressive dzongs and small villages where people still weave and live according to ancient traditions. In Bumthang, you’ll visit ancient temples, pilgrimage sites, and hidden valleys where daily life remains deeply connected to faith and rituals. In between, there’s time for little moments: a local brewery, a farmhouse lunch, or a walk through the pine forests around Six Senses Bumthang.

You’ll fly from Bumthang to Paro, where rice paddies, temples, and ancient fortresses mark the start of the final leg of your journey. You’ll make prayer flags with a local family, have lunch at a farmhouse, and visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest shrines.
Afterward, you’ll explore Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum, and the colorful streets of Paro. Then comes the climb to Tiger’s Nest, high up on the cliff face, followed by a butter lamp blessing or a dinner under the stars.
