Luxury tour of Egypt

Egypt unfolds here in a different way than you might expect: not in hurried day tours, but at an elegant pace that follows the Nile. You travel from Aswan to Luxor aboard an intimate dahabiya, where every stop feels like a privilege and every view is an invitation to pause for a moment. With an expert guide at your side, you discover iconic temples without the crowds, sample the flavors of Egyptian cuisine on board, and dine by candlelight on a remote island. The journey ends in El Gouna, where The Chedi combines tranquility, space, and a touch of discreet design, a gentle contrast to the archaeological grandeur of the south.

Egypt itinerary

  • Aswan welcomes you with warm desert air and a touch of nostalgia as soon as you step off the plane. Thanks to fast track and assistance, you glide effortlessly through the formalities. Your first night is spent at the iconic Old Cataract. The evening is free, just what you need to get into the rhythm of the Nile.

  • Early in the morning, you fly to Abu Simbel, where the sun bathes the colossal façade in gold, a sight that no brochure can do justice to. Back in Aswan, you board the dahabiya Gaïa, a small sailing yacht that allows you to experience the Nile in an almost private way. The afternoon is deliberately left free: a book, a gentle breeze, the rhythm of the water. In the evening, the crew serves a first dinner that immediately shows how refined life on board can be.

  • Today you will visit Philae, perhaps the most poetic temple in Egypt, located on an island that can only be reached by boat. You will also see the High Dam and the uneven edges of the Unfinished Obelisk, silent reminders of craftsmanship that left its mark in granite. After lunch, you will moor at Her Diab, where you can swim in the Nile. You will end the evening on a deserted island with an intimate candlelit dinner.

  • In Kom Ombo, you will discover a double temple that combines symmetry with mythology, an intriguing mix that exists only in Egypt. As you sail towards Gebel El Silsila, rock formations that served as quarries for the pharaohs for centuries glide by. On board, you can relax with a leisurely dinner while the dahabiya anchors.

  • The morning begins with the impressive Temple of Edfu, where the scenes on the walls are still surprisingly vivid. Back on board, the ship's chef will show you how Egyptian flavors can be both simple and refined. Later, you will visit the temple of Esna, which is often quieter and therefore much more intimate than the more famous sites. At sunset, life on board returns to simplicity: good company, good food, and the silence of the river.

  • Today is a big day, in every sense of the word. You will visit the Valley of the Kings, including the exceptional tombs of Seti I and Tutankhamun. This is followed by the elegant terrace temple of Hatshepsut and the massive Colossi of Memnon. In the afternoon, you will walk through the colonnades of the Temple of Luxor, where the light is perfectly captured on the sandstone walls. The farewell evening on board is festive, with live music and Egyptian warmth.

  • Your last morning on board begins with the enchanting Karnak, a place where every colossus seems to grow larger as you approach. Afterwards, a leisurely drive to El Gouna is on the agenda, a surprisingly green and modern coastal town. At The Chedi El Gouna, you can enjoy complete tranquility. In the evening, you will dine at the resort, overlooking the sea.

  • These days have no agenda, and that is precisely the luxury. The Chedi offers beach, silence, spa experiences, paddleboarding, yoga sessions, and light Mediterranean cuisine. Or you can opt for an excursion: snorkeling around toxic blue hues, a desert tour, or a sunset boat ride. Whatever you choose, these days feel like a soft landing after the richness of the Nile.

  • After a final breakfast, your driver will take you to Hurghada Airport. The journey ends, but the memories remain.

Our highlight of the trip

"For me, the dahabiya Gaïa is the absolute highlight: small-scale, quiet, and with a crew that really sees and takes care of everything. You sail at your own pace and dock at places where large ships cannot go. It is the most relaxed and exclusive way to discover the Nile."
